Dumpling making class

We made dumplings tonight! Following a recipe by chef Monique Lu and as part of an anti-hate online event ("Dump the Hate") organized by a local deli and meal kit service.

We got a meal kit with everything we needed and simply followed the Zoom workshop. It all started with using the food processor to prepare the filling (mushrooms, red onion, ginger, spring onions, cilantro, vegan "chick'n"). Then we learned different ways to fold the dumplings. (I liked the crescent shape best.)

As stated in the recipe, we fried the dumplings in a non-stick pan until they were a golden brown at the bottom.

Our mealkit hat everything we needed for a spicy dipping sauce.
We dipped, we munched, we were very happy.

Toast Hawai'i

So this was a popular German appetizer in the 1970s: Toast Hawai'i. You butter toast (challah or brioche offer an upgrade), top it with 1. a slice of ham, 2. a slice of pineapple (upgrade: fresh pineapple), 3. a cherry, and 4. a slice of cheese (upgrade: don't use Kraft singles). Comfort food with a touch of the Pacific. Try it, it's really not bad.
